I still remember going to China Moon, on Post Street if I remember correctly, whenever I was in San Francisco, sitting at the counter, literally looking into the woks the chefs were using for final prep (the rest of the kitchen was downstairs, so there was a system for moving food up as it was ready) and treasure my autographed copies (one HC for my library, one PB for the kitchen counter). Barbara Tropp was a wonderful, classically trained Chinese Chef, who knew and studied the classic cuisine, but who was bold enough to do a Chinese-California fusion cuisine that still is wonderful. She is greatly missed and this is a wonderful way to remember her ...
