The Country Cooking of France

Save yourself the hassle of wasting time with sub-par online retailers like Jessica's Biscuit and Cooking.com and shop first at Amazon. I originally ordered Anne Willan's "The Country Cooking of France" in February hoping to have the book quickly to prepare a French dinner for some guests in March. However, I was informed on March 1 that my order had been canceled since Jessica's Biscuit did not have the book any longer since it was not in print. However, when I ordered it from the website it said that it was "In Stock." I supposed this to be true as Jessica's Biscuit claims to have the largest online cookbook inventory. So, after having my order canceled I moved on to Cooking.com. I placed my order promptly on March 1 and received confirmation that my order would be shipped shortly. However, as of March 15 I had heard nothing. After calling customer service with Cooking.com twice, I was informed that they did not have the book in stock and that my order would be coming from a different vendor: Jessica's Biscuit, the company that failed me so horribly the first time. Regardless, I was given a shipping confirmation that day and thought that all would be well. I was wrong. Today, March 21, I received in the mail not Willan's "The Country Cooking of France" but a Food Network Magazine cookbook called "Great Easy Meals." Not quite French comfort food. I contacted Jessica's Biscuit where the customer assistance representative was defensive and acted as if this disaster was my fault. I said that I wanted my order canceled as I would be shopping with Amazon to have my order properly filled. However, I was told that I am responsible to ship the cookbook back. Put most simply, this was an all-around terrible shopping experience, and I will NEVER purchase anything from Jessica's Biscuit or Cooking.com again. As a side note, Willan's "The Country Cooking of France" will arrive from Amazon to my door tomorrow, and I ordered it 20 minutes ago.

Another reviewer reviews his sad tale of poor service,not this book. This book is a gem, as is all of Anne Willian's books. The Country Cooking of France is good value for the money with many classics and some I hadn't ever heard of. Many here I will try as soon as the weather here in California cools down a little more. French comfort food at it's best!
