I agree that this recipe is easy and foolproof and that the book is worth the price. The loaf is similar to the crusty bread that you get in bistros all over France. The book is essentially one recipe, with lots of suggestions for variations. Once I learned how simple it is, I purchased several Le Creuset pots in different sizes -- including a 6-7 quart Doufeu, which doesn't have the annoying problem of plastic knob -- so that I can bake multiple loaves on the same day. Everytime I make it, my husband raves. I baked a loaf for Thanksgiving this year and my guests were awed that I've become a "baker."
