I used to live in Birmingham and have eaten at Frank Stitt's restaurant. I also have this cookbook. I do agree tht it's a lovely book but it does have some useful recipes. However, Frank prides himself on obtaining the best fish in his restaurant and using fresh ingredients with regard to vegetables. I usually pull this cookbook out in the summer (although he does have different seasonable recipes) as there are quite a few fish dishes. If you don't have access to good fish (and I don't mean the standard tilapia and salmon in the grocery store) and locally grown vegetables in season, you may want to look elsewhere. If you love expensive fish dishes in restaurants, this has many recipes for fish.

This book isn't bad, so I couldn't give it a "2". But in my humble opinion, this is a coffee table book, right up there with the French Laundry cookbook. Big, oversized ... alot of pictures and space, with little substance. High price with no matching value (I happened to get it for a clearance price of $5.99 at the local chain bookstore). I might reference this at some point, maybe even try a recipe, but for now it will remain as visual candy on my coffee table for incoming guests.
